PACTT Vocational Services

New Voc Site, New Employer
PACTT Vocational Services’ Adult Division has moved to a new home of its own - a large, newly rehabbed storefront in the heart of Rogers Park. This space will serve as a job training facility and “home base” for our adult program clients and staff.
Our new site provides much needed space for an exciting new work assignment.
Open Books, “Chicago’s first nonprofit literacy bookstore-to-be,” has enlisted PACTT Vocational Services to help in the sorting, boxing, mailing, delivering and recycling of thousands of books which have been, and continue to be, donated to their used bookstore and literacy center opening next year in Chicago's new South Loop. A first truck load of over 1,000 Open Books titles delivered to PACTT Vocational Services’ new Adult Division site was sorted stacked and readied for delivery to a variety of locations in short order and a second batch of books was quickly on its way.
Thanks to Open Books
for involving PACTT Vocational Services in this exciting new project! |
"Our goal is to place each client in a job
he or she can do out
in the community. "
~Lisa Fegert, Coordinator, PACTT Vocational Services
PACTT Vocational Services works to place people with autism in jobs which allow them to use their skills and take their place in the working world.
Working with individual teenagers and young adults with autism, the PACTT vocational services team builds slowly, spending time with each individual to develop personal strengths into working skills, then find the right job match.
Once a client is placed in a new position, a PACTT on-site job coach is there to help foster success. Currently, 22 teenagers and young adults in the Vocational Services division are employed, working in a variety of jobs out in the community -- and getting great performance reviews from their employers and co-workers.
Thanks to our big-hearted employers!
