2024 Work of Heart Honoree

Chris Thomas

Chris Thomas is one of the founding members of PACTT Learning Center and has served in many roles over the last thirty plus years. While still a student at Loyola University, Chris volunteered at the Loyola Day School as a classroom assistant. In the fall of 1993 the school’s name was changed and PACTT Learning Center opened in a building on the north end of campus. PACTT moved to its present Greenview location in June 1994 and Chris joined the founders as a full-time teacher’s aide. It was during this time that a passion for his students was ignited and he has helped many PACTT participants grow into adulthood over the ensuing three decades.

Among his many roles, Chris has served as a Teacher, Vocational Director and Facilities Director, the role he serves PACTT in today—all critical roles in the forming of PACTT as an organization. Chris has a bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology from Loyola University and a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Northwestern University.  In addition to sharing his talents with PACTT, Chris has volunteered as a board trustee at North Shore Country Day School for nearly 15 years and has served as a board member supporting other non-profits. He is currently the Alumni President of his Alma Mater, Hales Franciscan High School. Chris has two grown sons and is a proud grandfather.

Over the course of his thirty years, Chris has made a tremendous impact on the lives of individuals supported at PACTT. Quite simply, Chris Thomas lives and breathes the mission of PACTT each and every day.
